Day 1 Saturday
We arrive in lovely Llandudno to check in to our fabulous base for four nights, a definite favourite - The Tynedale Hotel. We have time to find our way around, relax or take a stroll prior to our evening meal & entertainment.
Day 2 Sunday
A lovely scenic drive today as we depart The Tynedale at 10am & firstly make our way onto Anglesey for some free time in Beaumaris, a charming seaside town, known for its rich history, Georgian architecture, and stunning coastal views across the Menai Strait. At its heart stands Beaumaris Castle, an impressive and unfinished 13th-century fortress built by Edward I, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town offers a mix of quaint streets, independent shops, cafés, and art galleries, as well as a lovely Victorian pier that's ideal for a peaceful stroll. From Beaumaris we take the scenic drive over the Llanberis Pass to Betws-y-Coed before returning back to Llandudno to relax prior to our evening meal & entertainment.
Day 3 Monday
We depart our hotel this morning for our visit to Portmeirion, the enchanting Italianate village, near Porthmadog. Designed by architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1973, the village is famous for its colourful Mediterranean-style buildings and lush subtropical gardens. Portmeirion is also known for its role as the filming location of the 1960s TV series The Prisoner. You can explore boutique shops or enjoy a snack in the stylish cafés and restaurants before we make our way back to Llandudno with time to relax before our evening meal & entertainment.
Day 4 Tuesday
A day of leisure today, so you have the day free in lovely Llandudno. There's plenty to fill your day -stroll along the elegant Victorian promenade and pier, ride the historic Great Orme Tramway or cable car for sweeping views, or explore the Great Orme Country Park. The town’s shopping streets are lined with independent boutiques and cafés and main high street shops are all within walking distance. If you just want to sit and watch the world go by, you couldn't be in a nicer spot!
Day 5 Wednesday
9.30am departure this morning as we head to the wonderful Bodnant Gardens, a Grade I-listed horticultural paradise spanning 80 acres. The garden showcases a rich tapestry of landscapes, from formal Italianate terraces and wildflower meadows to woodland glades and cascading waterfalls. Renowned for its Laburnum Arch, the longest in the UK. Bodnant is also home to five National Collections of plants, including magnolias, rhododendrons, and eucryphias. Following our visit we commence our journey back to Leeds.
The Tynedale Hotel in Llandudno offers stylish en-suite rooms all equipped with modern amenities like digital TVs, free Wi-Fi, and tea/coffee facilities, with accessible and ground-floor rooms also available. A passenger lift services all floors but some single rooms are only accessible via 14 steps with no lift access. Other rooms may have steps invloved after exiting the lift, please advise if you have mobilty problems so we can advise accordingley.
Public areas are situated on the ground floor with the restaurant being on the lower ground, a passenger lift services all floors and there is a sloped entrance to the front of the hotel.
