Day 2 Tuesday
Following breakfast we depart our hotel and make our way to Totnes for a 90 minute river cruise on the River Dart to the lovely town of Dartmouth, known for its rich maritime history, scenic waterfront, and charming old streets. Enjoy a stroll around the historic harbour, explore the narrow streets filled with independent shops, galleries, and cafés. We return with time to relax before our evening meal & evening entertainment.
Day 3 Wednesday
A day at leisure to spend how you like. Babbacombe offers a mix of charm, history & seaside vibes. Top attractions include the Babbacombe Model Village with its detailed miniature scenes, the Babbacombe Cliff Railway - a 1920s funicular that links the clifftop to Oddicombe Beach. You could visit Bygones, a nostalgic museum recreating Victorian life, or enjoy the peace of Tessier Gardens, an adults-only park filled with flowers and wildlife. Alternatively you could spend the day in nearby Torquay - the choice is yours! Following our evening meal tonight we take a steady stroll to Babbacombe theatre as we include tickets to the wonderful variety show this evening.
Day 4 Thursday
Today following breakfast we make our way to Brixham. Brixham is part of the English Riviera, but it feels much more traditional and less resort-like than nearby Torquay or Paignton. The heart of Brixham is its harbour, which is usually full of fishing boats and yachts. It’s one of the UK’s busiest fishing ports, so seafood is a big deal here restaurants and markets often serve fish that was landed the same day. Along the waterfront, you’ll see colourful houses climbing up the hills, giving the town a slightly Mediterranean look despite the English weather. A notable sight in the harbour is the replica of the Golden Hind, the ship famously sailed by Francis Drake. It adds a bit of historic character, tying into the town’s strong maritime past. Brixham is also historically significant because William of Orange landed nearby in 1688, which led to the Glorious Revolution. The town has a cosy, slightly old-fashioned feel: narrow streets, small independent shops, and a slower pace of life. We return to relax prior to our evening meal and entertainment.
Day 5 Friday
We say a sad goodbye to Babbacombe this morning as we make our way back to Leeds.
